‍The Republic of Uzbekistan is a country in Central Asia. It is a sovereign secular, unitary constitutional republic that consists of 12 provinces. Uzbekistan borders five countries: Kazakhstan to the north; Kyrgyzstan to the northeast; Tajikistan to the southeast; Afghanistan to the south and Turkmenistan to the southwest. Its area is 448,978 km², and the population is over 37 million people.
